Module three of the Cultural Competency and Health Literacy Training Series: The CLAS Standards Audience: Leadership Level, Decision and Policy Makers. Date: Thursday, October 26, 2017; 9:00am to 3:00pm Location: Held at Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts: 2736 NY-30, Gloversville, NY 12078 Content will focus on developing an understanding of the National CLAS Standards. The CLAS Standards are intended to advance health equity, improve quality and help eliminate health care disparities by establishing a blueprint for health and health care organizations to look at four areas of improvement: 1) Principal Standard; 2) Governance, Leadership and Accountability; 3) Communication and Language Assistance; 4) Engagement, Continuous Improvement and Accountability. These are 1-day trainings with a limit of 30 participants per day. In person attendance is required. There will be no option for teleconference. Light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Photo Exoplanets: Worlds Beyond Our Solar System

Jennifer L. Carter, University at Albany-SUNY Since the 1st exoplanet discovery was made in 1992, detections continued at a crawl until the Kepler mission began in 2009. To date, over 3,600 exoplanets have been confirmed using a variety of techniques. The types of exoplanets detected range from incredibility hot, Jupiter sized exoplanets to Earth-like exoplanets that may be habitable for life. We’ll discuss where and how exoplanets are detected and what the future holds for exoplanet science.
